Stuff learned 2...

I have taken a total of two Reading classes and i feel that they have improved my reading skills a lot. A strategy that helps me understand my readings in my other classes is annotating, it helps me understand the main points of the paragraph or the whole article. I feel that highlighting also helps me understand the key points of an article, but not only helps me understand it but helps me remember whats most important and i can go back to the page and find it right away. Summary and annotating i find a little similar but i do them both because that way the information will be stuck in my head. I review after every paragraph just to be sure that i understood what i read and i wasn't just reading it to get it over with.

This week in my english we have to read two chapters i will be using highlighting and reviewing to help me get through the chapters. i feel that with that many pages to read that these two strategies can help me out the most. In my theater class we need to read two chapters as well, but with this class the reading is much more important it seems for the reason that all of our quizzes are straight from the reading, so i will use annotating, and i will try SQ3R, though i find that SQ3R is a lot of work and is time consuming, i know that at the end of the chapter that information will be stuck in my head. Last week i had to deal with a paper and some reading and i used highlighting and annotating and i found that they did not work out as well as i would have wished them to but for what i did remember and get done i am satisfied.

Stuff learned...

This week in my English class we learned about "satire". She explained to us what it is about by giving us the definition and examples on some paper. To give us a better example and make sure that we truly knew what it meant our classes for the next two meeting just dealt of us watching The Producers. We needed to watch the movie and write down examples of satire when we saw it. On the last class meeting we finished watching The Producers; our assignment for this word is to write a journal and give the examples that we saw in the movie. In my theater class we had to do a project and it consisted of picking a character out of a list, and once we picked out our character we had to dress our character to the way they were described. My character was tall, model like, high fashioned, and was raised in money. So i went through some magazines and found some pictures of some very high priced clothes. This project sounds pointless and when my professor explained it to us the first thought that went through my mind was how this at all dealt with Theater, but when the project was over it all made sense. This project was showing us that even though you can find costumes in high price the theater department needs to go through the cheaper stuff and make the costumes needed because not all the money can go to the clothes wore. This is useful to help us explain how theater works and what the producers go through for every show.
